Information about health and infectious diseases

Summer is upon us with lots of "activities" and the STDs in Copenhagen are unfortunately following. It is our common responsibility to play safe and get tested for STDs regularly. The club is regularly visited by the Checkpoint for Hot Sundays (see the calendar), where you can get a quick test for HIV and Syphilis, and you will receive an result the very next day.

Remember to use a condom when you have sex in SLM Copenhagen. Everywhere in the club you will find condoms and lubricant available for free. Although many guys today use PREP, which protects against HIV infection, you are only protected against syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea and hepatitis by using a condom. Some of these STDs can cause pain and/or chronic infections. You can read a lot more about Checkpoint and how to have great sex and still protect yourself from STDs on Checkpoint's website.

It is your own responsibility to take care of yourself and practice safe sex in SLM Copenhagen.

If you have had unprotected sex and need advice or to be tested, you can always book an appointment for testing and advice at Checkpoint or call Checkpoint advice directly on 33 91 11 19 on weekdays between 10-14. Here, experts are ready to answer your questions about safe sex. It's easy and free.

Monkeypox- what do you need to know?

Cases of monkeypox has been reported again this summer - especially among men having sex with men, but anyone can get infected. Checkpoint guides you with the most important things you need to know.

The course
Monkeypox last approx. 2-4 weeks and the disease disappears by itself and can be treated.

Symptoms
Most people experience few symptoms such as irritated hair follicles or small pimples around the genitals.
Other symptoms include fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and rash. It may be a little reminiscent to chicken pox. Rash and irritation in rectum can feel much like gonorrhea.

You can only infect others when you get symptoms.

Recommendations
If you have symptoms, avoid close physical contact or sharing clothes and bedding with others.
To avoid infection, we also recommend good hygiene, frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer.
In addition, it is recommended to use a condom during sexual contact.

Are you at particular risk and not vaccinated?
It is still possible to get a free monkeypox vaccine. Read more here from Region Hovedstaden.

Questions
Contact your own doctor by telephone if you have symptoms or if you suspect that you may have been infected.

You are also welcome to contact Checkpoint's hotline +45 33 91 11 19, which is open every day from 10.00-14.00.
